It is said that a similar ruling will apply to the Registrar General, except that he first made reference to paragraph 4 and observed that there was nothing accompanying despatch 1598/09-90 that showed that in 1875 there was a personal allowance of $1200 attached to the fine salary of the Registrar General, which allowance was subsequently merged in quarter.
By paragraph 7 of despatch 4774/81, it is stated that the Registrar General should be on the same footing as others who had allowances in salary, the increased salary being expressly continued to the present holder of the office (24507/09).
And it is noted [in a 3rd person's note to correct the obscure language of paragraph 1 of despatch] that I have (1598/09-90 red ink) suggested thereon on 19/9/90 that the above is proper.
